The National Pathology Group is the official sub-group representing pathology of the South African Medical Association.  All disciplines of pathology are represented including histo-pathology.

The National Pathology Group strives to establish and promote protocols and professional standards for pathology.  Its members are predominantly drawn from private practice but the focus is broader and the objective is to promote the discipline of pathology as a diagnostic tool in the care of patients.

Membership is open to registered pathologists who are also members of the South African Medical Association.

The Scientific Group is a market leader in the supply of high quality science and medical products and related technology into South Africa and Sub Saharan Africa.

The organisation comprises three sales divisions and a service division.

The Clinical Division has a core structure servicing State and Private Pathology Laboratories in the form of clinical analysers and diagnostic reagents. It incorporates an Export Division that focuses on overall healthcare advice and service, with on and off-site training providing support to regions of Sub-Saharan Africa.

The Biosciences Division caters for more specialised molecular biology and biotechnology equipment consumables and reagents for all research and molecular diagnostic applications.

The Medical Division provides first world corrective products for the cardiology market along with hospital requirements such as patient monitoring apparatus , theatre lights and imaging equipment.

The Scientific Group still boasts one of the largest Service Divisions in the country within its chosen industry. Fully trained service technicians/engineers are available on a 24-hour basis and a call centre number is available should a customer require after hour support on their equipment. Assistance is offered throughout South Africa as well as various regions in Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands.
